Who would have thought...

I wrote this mail to my friends a few months ago, after my summer internship. Now that I have decided to blog, I couldn’t think of any other post that I would like to put up! May sound tragic…but is the perfect example for ‘All’s well that ends well’!!

Disclaimer – This post is purely (yeah rite!) fictitious and any resemblance to any persons living or dead is (not) purely coincidental!

I must admit I was starry eyed when it came to my summer project. I was hoping to make the best of the three months, working in an ad agency which has been a long cherished dream. Well, they aren’t dreams for nothing, I got placed in an FMCG which, my seniors having had the privilege of working for, warned me against. I was not going to be put off, I wore my rose colored glasses and decided I would change my fate and so I went ahead. I took comfort in the fact that R (my classmate) was to join me in my endeavors. Partners in crime…what more could I ask for??

Gosh!!! I can still vividly remember the first day R and I walked into the office. I was gung ho about the building and how sexy it looks (boy do I regret my words now!). We walked into the ABC office and so the game began. By game I don't mean scrabble or monopoly (sigh! wish it was), just plain and simple waiting, so much so that I felt like I was back at my dentist’s office, at least the environment there was less intimidating and had nice music... * wink *

R and I were pretending to be intellectuals (fine, fine only I was pretending) whose day doesn’t begin until after perusing the newspaper, frankly I gave up!! I mean, how long can u act like the oil prices having gone up a quarter of a cent is soooooooo huge and earth shattering?? I'm grouchy about this coz ABC subscribes only to Bline and a magazine called brunch which is the worst of its kind .I speak with conviction having read each and every one of them while waiting for my boss to acknowledge my presence.

Anyways, after waiting for a zillion hours a guy from admin takes us to the inner sanctuary. He leads us to a table that looks like the ones you have at ice cream parlors, It’ s elevated has glass walls and dim lighting. A very romantic setting!!! R was prolly thinking y her??? Well, ditto!! The icing on the cake was the soft music they play at lunch which is totally unrecognizable which hasn't changed till date. The admin guy saw the oh-so-bored look on our faces and decided to give us magazines to read...not the kind one would imagine for sure but the sustainability report which was well…YAWN!! It was as good as reading a macro text (Me n Economics do not gel, understatement actually). I gave up all pretense of reading it halfway but R decided to read the whole thing in case they were testing our patience…As IF!!

I knew we'd be wallpaper there (I was proved right eventually). So we waited n waited n waited...n finally got our proximity cards that we put to very good use by going out for lunch (ever resourceful!!) we come back only to be asked to come the next day.

We pranced out of the room in a manner which was far from professional and headed back home to do nothing…Well, what’s new in that?
